One Year of ChatGPT: The Chatbot that Changed Everything

How a chatbot changed the world and what it means for all of us

Happy public release 1st birthday to ChatGPT, the amazing chatbot that can talk to you about anything!

Let it sink in that today marks the first anniversary of ChatGPT’s release, an artificial intelligence model that has revolutionized the way we interact with machines. In the past year, ChatGPT has created a buzz in the tech industry and beyond, inspiring hope, hype, fear, and chaos. In this time, ChatGPT has shown us the incredible potential of artificial intelligence to transform our lives and our world. What’s it going to do in the next year?

On an upcoming Podcast “Efficiency Unlocked: Nerd Tested, MD Approved” episode, I will interview my 12-year-old daughter about Generative AI from a 12 year old’s eye.

According to VentureBeat, ChatGPT has changed the world in the past 12 months. The platform has gained 100 million monthly active users in under two months, becoming the fastest-growing consumer internet app of all time after its launch. The emergence of new business models like Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) and application programming interface (API)-based monetization is changing the way AI technology is monetized and commercialized, enabling businesses of all sizes to leverage AI without significant upfront investments.

When I was initially drafting up this post, I could not get Bing Co-Pilot in Microsoft Edge browser to even create a draft (see below.) Makes you realize the guardrails placed over the past year sometimes are not applied appropriately!

Safeguards sometimes malfunction ;)

ChatGPT is not just a chatbot, it's a powerful tool that can help us learn, create, communicate and solve problems. It can generate content such as poems, stories, code, essays, songs and more. On an upcoming Podcast “Efficiency Unlocked: Nerd Tested, MD Approved” episode, I will interview my 12-year-old daughter about Generative AI from a 12-year old’s eye. I’m also going to interview my younger child (4th grade) as well who is using Canva in their Denver Public School account to create photos and graphics with the new Canva Gen AI Magic Studio. Kids are using this, and they will replace you if you don’t!

I personally use both Canva and Bing Co-Pilot for Gen AI work, as they both can help us improve our writing/creatively, optimize our content, and rewrite it in different ways. It can understand and communicate fluently in many languages, such as English, 中文, 日本語, Español, Français, Deutsch and others.

But ChatGPT is not the end of the story. It's just the beginning of a new era of artificial intelligence that will fundamentally change everything we do as human beings. Whether we are students, teachers, writers, artists, programmers, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers or any other profession, we need to be aware of the impact and opportunities that artificial intelligence will bring to our fields and roles. If we think that we are immune to these changes, we are making a big mistake. We will be replaced by someone who understands and embraces the transformational power of artificial intelligence.

That's why I'm looking forward to this next HUGE wave of innovation and progress for the betterment of society. I'm excited to see what ChatGPT and its successors will do next. I'm also curious to see how we humans will adapt and evolve with them. I hope you are too!
