Nikhil Buduma
Nikhil Buduma is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Ambience Healthcare. Ambience is building the most comprehensive AI operating system for healthcare organizations, designed to reduce clinician burnout, improve system efficiency, and enable high quality care.
Beyond his work at Ambience, Nikhil is widely known as the author of O’Reilly’s Fundamentals of Deep Learning, the first leading textbook on modern AI technology. Prior to his college education, Nikhil managed a drug discovery laboratory at San Jose State University at the age of 16 and was a two-time gold medalist at the International Biology Olympiad. While attending university at MIT, he co-founded Lean On Me, a national non-profit organization that connects college students to non-crisis peer support.
In 2015, Nikhil co-founded Remedy Medical, a virtual primary care group that leveraged an AI chatbot to accelerate intake & history-taking. In 2020, Ambience was born out of the experience of supervising clinician workflow and documentation at scale.
Ambience has raised $100M in total funding from Kleiner Perkins, OpenAI, Andreessen Horowitz, Optum, Google’s Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, and many other leading investors across technology, healthcare, and AI.
